In 1981, Kenneth A. Weatherwax and his son, Peter A. Weatherwax, established the Weatherwax Foundation in Jackson, Michigan. Longtime area industrialists, the Weatherwaxes owned and managed Acme Industries and Paka Plaza along with other business enterprises.
At the 1988 death of his father, Peter Weatherwax took management of the Foundation, expanding its philanthropic works. Under his direction, and since his death in 1996, Foundation emphases include selected education, community, and arts programs. For thirty years, vetted activities in music, culture and social services have benefitted from Foundation support. Projects helping children by strengthening families and efforts supporting community beautification and recreation have received encouragement from Weatherwax Foundation grants.
The Foundation carries on the spirit and interests of Kenneth and Peter Weatherwax. Their vision of sound business sense and entrepreneurial community effort remains a force for good and brings opportunity to everyone engaged with the Weatherwax Foundation.
